Psoriasis Skin Care – Easy Techniques You Can Try at Home

Does thinking about good psoriasis skin care leave you with more questions than answers?

With so much information around on the subject, it would be no surprise if it did. When I first started to suffer from psoriasis, I had a lot of questions too. The doctor’s didn’t really seem to know what the best course of action was, because of course they have no cure for the disease.

I did some digging around myself, on the subject of how to best look after my skin to reduce the severity of the psoriasis flare ups, and help the skin heal. But, before I spill the beans on what you should do to help your skin, I should point out something that you absolutely should NOT do:

Don’t scratch that itch, no matter how annoying it is!

It might sound obvious, but you’d be surprised at how often people do it without thinking. I know I used to. So, how can you relieve that itching? One such psoriasis skin care technique is to make up a mixture of baking soda and water. You’ll want around 1 cup of baking soda to 2 gallons of water. Use a cloth to dab the mixture on the affected areas, and the itching sensation should ease.

The worst thing about the skin when you get psoriasis is that it gets very dry. One obvious way to tackle this is to apply moisturizers to help keep the skin supple, which does help. To allow more of the moisturizer to get absorbed into the skin, try applying a plastic wrap afterwards to keep the moisturizer in place, and keep it in place for about an hour.

One last psoriasis skin care tip is to add olive oil or mineral oil to your bath, they will get soaked into the skin where they will help heal damage caused by psoriasis.
